7 weeks and 1 Day

Yesterday saw another hospital appointment and yet another scan so we got to have a look at Frosty.

s/he has now grown from 2.10mm to 6.78mm - grain of rice kinda size and my uterus is now he size of an orange! My stomach however has decided to take on the resemblence of a potbellied pig :-)

Exhaustion hit me today, which could only be solved one way. Yes after work i slept from 11.30am until 2pm whilst Richard painted the kitchen. He seems happy in his work and like most men like to be left alone so its a good arrangement.

Here is frostys latest model shot, sorry it's not great but the scanner isn't working so i took a photo. There really isn't much to see at this stage anyway.

Next installement will be 6th October after my LAST appointment with my lovely doctor. I then get released to be a normal pregnant person, yippeeeeeeeee

Scary week

Well this early pregnancy lark is not that much fun, especially when my body decides to do funky things!

Last Friday i had a little bit of a fright so called the doctor and she had me in early for my first scan. She told me that a little spotting is completely normal but lets have a look :)

WE had the scan and we are expecting ONE baby - yey proudly known now as Frosty.

Frosty measured in at 5w and 5d - right where he/she should be. We also got to see the heartbeat flicker. The doctor was suprised at this but was very pleased.

As you can see from this first scan you really cant see much. I have another one on Monday so i am hoping for a better view.

Right now i feel very anxious with it all but i am hoping that is just hormone surges and will die down soon, its very nerve wracking.

I get to stay with my specialist until the middle of October and then i am back to my regular OBGYN - thats going to be weird. I think i get to come of the drugs then also - which i cannot wait to do.

I'll try and post the next ultrasound up as soon as i can

2nd Blood Test

I've had a rather lovely week with friends staying and during our fun days out i had to pop to the doctors office for my second blood test.
We thought we were going to be late due to a rather random experience in the car hire office. Luckily when i got there the blood tests fairies were on my side and then man who takes it all to the lab hadn't shown up yet.

The idea of the second test is to ensure that the beta number (HCG level) has doubled close to every 48 hours. I had done the math in my head based on my first test and reckoned it needed to be around 4000.

Well my nurse called me back in the afternoon and it was over 8000!! A very strong number and still no real indication as to whether its 2 babies or one. We will know that on Tuesday - very excited.

I am also a nervous wreck though, lots of aches and pains which everyone ensures me is very normal but i can't help but worry. I'm hoping once we see the Gems on the screen it will sink in.

I've also been worrying about food. well not worrying but checking for raw egg and deli meat - or mercury laden fish - hmmmmmm

i'll update again after Tuesday - hopefully with a picture :D

We Did it :)

Yey so we are officially pregnant!!!! of course when i say we Richard hasn't had some revolutionary procedure or anything but im making sure he is involved for the rest of this life and knows what he has done :)

I had the blood test on Wednesday 9/9/09 - a lucky day apparently - well i guess that's true for us. The Beta number was 860 this is pretty much a gauge of the amount of hormone being released. I have to go back on Monday for another to make sure the numbers are rising. Then on the 22ND September i have an ultrasound to see how many babies we are having!

So right now i feel great although not very fit, i get tired quite quickly and can't quite fathom how i ever ever managed to run 5 marathons. I'm starting back with some light walking next week so hopefully it will get better.

Anyway here is some evidence

Today is test day

Yip thats right i have made it through the wilderness of the what if's and maybes without to much scarring!
I had the blood drawn at 10am and now have to wait until 4pm for the doctor to call me. Hmm nice long wait that.

I took in some unused drugs today as they keep telling me they can give them to people that need them, huh they never offered me any freebies from other patients!! I still did the right thing though and polished my halo as i walked out the door.

The progesterone injections are becoming a really pain in the butt now - LITERALLY. My right side is quite numb down towards my leg a little, the nurse assures me this is normal - whatever. I now have a regime of 2 nights on the left and then 1 night on the right to give it a bit of a rest. That is until my left butt cheek gives out on me - then i am doomed.
Much to Richards horror if this works we have to keep injecting for 8 weeks - THE JOY :)

The tiredness is still with me but it's a great excuse for sleeping during the day and not doing housework, i've become a lazy baggage again.

So look out for the next post to see whether the Iced Gems made the cut

One week to go

So just under a week to go until the blood test to determine whether all this lazing around in bed has been worth it or not.
My 3 days bed rest was quite nice but i did get bored on Sunday. I moved rooms once a day so i was able to watch a lot of trash TV and chill out on the Sofa.
Nothing major to report on how i am feeling. All feels very different to last time and i think that is because of the drug regime. I feel very lucky to be getting away with very few side effects.

Couple of birth announcements this week and another couple due very soon have me itching for this round to have worked.

So for now its all about siestas and trashy TV :)
