Getting back to normal !!

Whatever normal is these days!
The emotions have been up and down over the last 2 weeks but generally on the whole i've been doing quite well. My main issue with all this IVF stuff is the amount of lard it stuffs around your waist and boobs - I am now the proud owner of an extra stone in weight since this time last year - ARGH!!!
I'm trying to go easy on myself but i have been feeling very uncomfortable. Also my allergies have been extra nasty because of the immune suppression i had during the cycle. Hopefully my new eye drops will cure that.

Still no firm news on the house but we hope to move by the last week in July - 3 weeks away yey

So lots of treadmill action for me and not a whole lot of food. I hope to have half this excess off by the time we try with out frosties

IVF # 1 is a bust

Well what can i say.......... I had the beta blood test yesterday and it came back negative. All i can say is we are both a little disappointed with this result but on the whole very optimistic for trying again.
I don't see the point in wallowing on the what if's, we had put back 2 perfect blast and were told our chance was 50% - This time we sat on the wrong side of the 50% fence.

Our next step is to use our frozen embryos in August. This means i get a month free of hormones (apart from my own of course :) ) and then a month of birth control to supress everything down.
My doctor assures me that the popsicles in the freezer are perfect and we have a pretty good chance (hmmm I'm sure I've heard her say that before)

So between now and then i will be enjoying the virtues of Wine and Exercise once more ooh and my husband of course (oops sorry Dad :-) )

My mission over the next 2 months is to loose the lard all these injections have piled on my backside, so if you see me chowing down on anything other than lettuce swipe it away ok.

Ooh and we will be moving house as well (hopefully) so i'll be back with some more glorious adventures into the mysterious world of making babies soon xxxx

The one week wait

Ok so in the world of trying to conceive there is some weird terminology - mainly used on forums and blogs to describe how things are going
2WW stands for 2 week wait. - google this and you will find pages and pages of insane women looking for the defining answer to how they are feeling and that it leads to the infamous pregnancy!
1WW is an elite club of crazed women, A club i have wondered into during these last few days. Its a dark place full of random symptoms and questions about what your body is doing. Truth is YOU ARE DRIVING YOURSELF CRAZY LADY !!!!! There is no answer until the blood test tells you one way or the other. Many many women don't know they are pregnant for weeks. If you look for symptoms you will believe you will have them.

As you can tell i have gone off on many tangents this week. Mainly i don't think we have been successful. No reason to think this other than a defensive state i guess. Rich and i have discussed the next step if we find out Monday that it dodn't work and have decided to keep ploughing on.

We have to embies on ice so my doctor may recommend we thaw these and try with them. Its a big discussion to be had about what is best. Our insurance will cover 2 more attempts so she may suggest we go with a fresh cycle again.
I dont mind this - my thinking is it will be slightly cheaper if we ever have to pay for a frozen cycle so why not save them - i dunno - loopy loo here.

I'm going to sign off now, bedtime for me - more house stuff to do tomorrow - yey !

Bed rest

Ok ok i realise that i should of done this a week ago but it is really amazing how laying around in bed all day can make you really tired!!

My 3 days of pure bed rest were very uneventful. I have to say i am very thankful for wireless internet and the fact that we have a TV in the bedroom. US daytime TV is pants though - there is only so much Tyra and Dr Phil a girl can stand without wanting to poke her eyes out.

I actually spent most of the time either asleep or surfing for ideas for our new house. This kept my mind off of pinky and perky for all of about 10 minutes. Hopefully there will be more news on the house soon.

Rich has done a sterling job with the progesterone injeections into my butt. The moaning about it has died down now :0

My back had been really aching after all the lounging around but we have a new mattress now which is just lovely.

Nothing else to report - no major changes to how i am feeling - all i have noticed is that the minimiser bras have come in handy!

Egg Transfer

Wednesday 3rd June saw our egg transfer. We arrived at the doctors office at 10am and waited for her to come and talk to us about our embryos.

We were shown an amazing photo of the 15 of them and which 2 would be transferred today.

They had already started to hatch which i am told is good but you never know. 2 others have been frozen and they were watching another 6 to see if they made it to freeze stage. The doc didn't think they would. 6 others were discarded.

The actual transfer was painless and over pretty quickly. I had to lie for 15 Min's after and then came home.

I now have to endure 3 days of strict bed rest! This means only getting up to go to the bathroom.

Laying in bed all day makes me quite tired so i have been having plenty of snoozes. Luckily the modern world of wireless in Internet and the TV has made it very bearable.

Rich is doing a wonderful job as chef and nursemaid but i will be glad to get up after tomorrow.

This next 2 weeks is going to be long so i am hoping for some news on the house we are trying to buy to keep my mind occupied.

I really hope these 2 make it

Pinky and Perky as they are affectionately known

Mondays fertility report update

The weekend was a good one after knowing that 15 of our eggs fertilized so i managed to relax and enjoy some down time. The doctors office would be calling Monday to update their development!

We got the call at 9.30am - all 15 have continued to grow into Embryo's... I am amazed and now pretty excited. This gives us such a great chance on Wednesday and we should also have some to freeze for the future.

I've not been feeling too bad but do have some stomach disturbances, I think the combination on antibiotics and steriods along with the new hormone has annoyed my stomach somewhat. Today i will be taking it very easy and drinking loads of water. I want to be in the best possible place for tomorrow.

We were also offered acupuncture for before and after transfer tomorrow. We have decided not to do it as we feel we are already pretty calm and rational and it costs quite a lot and that alone may stress me !!

So tomorrow at 10am our potential children will be put back into their rightful place. We are transferring 2 and then i will be on strict bedrest for 3 days
