So being lucky enough to be in America and hold a rather generous medical insurance policy i did some research into who could help us.
Luckily for us a very reputable practice was a short drive away so we plucked up the courage to make an appointment.
We were nervous, had many feelings going on - the usual sense of failure coupled with Oh my god how much is all this going to cost. We arrived at the office to find the waiting room full, a reassuring sign that we had gone to a good place and were not alone in this journey - even if the wait on the plastic chair was long!
The appointment was straight forward, a chat about history, what we had been trying etc and then onto a barrage of tests to determine why we may need help.
The male test was scheduled for the next day as we were leaving for Christmas holidays and knew we wanted the results ready to go in January. My test had to wait until January as it had to be scheduled around my cycle.
So lots of needle poking, plastic pots and attractive gowns followed
We were also given the best options based on a good outcome of our tests - this would be 3 rounds of IUI (artifical insemination) and if that doesn't work on to IVF - all scary stuff!
